Hell's Kitchen Holiday Craft Blitz
The HK Craft Cabal met Tuesday for last minute creating and kvetching. We had several newcomers this time, who I hope will return for more. I served gluhwein instead of the usual sangria, and, oh, the house smelled great. Everyone brought homemade goodies to continue the holiday food coma into the work week.

Kim knitting a scarf with no one harping about her technique; Tim making gift tags out of old Christmas cards.

Jen, addressing her Christmas cards, and Anna, album cover wallets completed

Amy, crocheting a rosette to embellish a gorgeous scarf; Cindee and Kevin

Two purses down:

CD sized purse for my friend Jen

Trade paperback sized purse for my pal Andrea
Both have been given and accepted with love. Yay!
Slow and steady
The Christmas gift marathon is plodding along and I'm keeping a fairly decent pace. With just a few days remaining, I may just make it.

Meet revafisheye

Meet revafisheye, the inspiration for my InterWeb alter ego. In the summer of 1994, I was working as an actor and musical director for an outdoor drama company in NC. My then boyfriend was playing the Pharoah in
Joseph...Dreamcoat and liked to keep his (Elvis) wig in my trailer "so no one would mess with it" (I swear he is straight). One night, we decided the styrofoam wigstand needed a face.
I painted a blue and orange fish over her right eye, and passed her to Stephen. He did the other eye and handed her back. With tempera paint and a Sharpie, we took turns embellshing her with symbols meaningful to us at the time - yin and yang, an ankh, peace sign, sun and moon, comedy and tragedy - the standard icons of early 90s pot-smoking-hippie-actor kids. Lastly, I covered the remaining space with a Keith Haringesque continuous squiggly black line.
Jen, our trailermate and company costume designer, named her Reva and we added the obvious Fisheye to give her a superior one-name moniker; revafisheye became the mascot of our white-trash domicile. At the end of the summer, she came home with me, and we have since travelled the country, resting at last, here in NYC.
revafisheye reminds me that art can be created from anything; and if you create with love, it will be beautiful.
New toy
I have joined the digital age (well, sort of. I still don't have a DVD player). I got my bonus at work yesterday and it was considerably more than I anticipated, so I treated myself to an early Christmas with a digital camera. I'm so excited (and annoying everyone at work). I'll be knitting it a cozy when the xmas push is past.
Last night, Mo and I sipped cocktails and chatted up the bartender at Vintage on 9th Avenue, while I knocked out the better part of this little purse for my NY Cares Secret Santa child. I'm going to put a diary and a fun pen inside. Is it wrong that I had so much fun buying "girl" toys for this kid? My nephews are great, but I never know what to get them. I know Easy Bake Ovens and Barbie swimming pools (and little purses with diaries and pens).

My co-worker snapped this photo of my tattoo so you can see it for reals. I cropped out my giney. You're welcome.

I love my new toy!
I decreased!
I just made my first hat! No more rectangle-only projects for me. No longer will I fear the ktog.
Pics forthcoming.
Three down
Oh, so many to go.
I'm really making head way in my push to get my Christmas gifts completed before the end of the year. I finished two scarves yesterday and have started a third. Next is a shawl for mi mama and then little purses for my Gs. I will learn to increase/decrease before the season is over.
